Justin Whitworth is an associate with Graves Garrett. He represents businesses and individuals during civil, criminal, and regulatory investigations, as well as prosecuting and defending qui tam claims. In addition, Justin provides representation in complex commercial and business litigation, and election law or political speech-related litigation.
Justin’s practice also includes counseling businesses in corporate compliance and governance matters and assisting non-profit entities in navigating corporate organization and IRS tax exemption issues.
Prior to practicing law, Justin worked on a clinical research team for an international-leading Fortune 500 company specializing in agricultural and healthcare product development. His team focused on developing safer pharmaceutical treatments for a variety of diseases.
Licensed to practice in the state and federal courts of Missouri and the federal courts of Kansas, Justin is a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, The Missouri Bar, the American Bar Association, and is a board member of the Kansas City Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society. Additionally, he has authored articles that have been published in The Urban Lawyer, State Court Docket Watch, and Ingram’s Magazine.
Justin received his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. While in law school, he served as a board member of The Urban Lawyer, as a staff editor of the UMKC Law Review, and participated in trial and appellate advocacy programs. In addition to his studies during law school, Justin served as a law clerk for the firm.
A native of Blue Springs, Mo., Justin earned his undergraduate degree from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kan. During his time at ESU, he was a captain of the football team, the community service leader of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and a site coordinator for the Special Olympics in Emporia. Currently, Justin is a member of the board of directors of the Epilepsy Foundation of Missouri & Kansas.
Justin resides in the Kansas City area, with his wife, Megan, and their two daughters.
