Graves Garrett lands 7 in 2023 Best Lawyers guide; Garrett named ‘Lawyer of the Year’

Graves Garrett is pleased to announce seven of the firm’s attorneys earned recognition in The Best Lawyers in America 2023, a U.S. News & World Report peer review guide that honors top legal professionals. Notably, this included partner Nathan Garrett garnering the distinction of “Lawyer of the Year” in Kansas City in the area of Criminal Defense: White-Collar. This marked his second time receiving this honor (2018).

Best Lawyers honorees included partner Todd Graves making the list for the 13th straight year, Garrett for the ninth straight year, and partner Eddie Greim for the sixth straight year, while senior counsel attorney Bradley Bodamer made the list for a second time.

In addition, Graves Garrett partners Lucinda Luetkemeyer and Dane Martin, along with associate Matthew Mueller, were recognized in the guide’s “Ones to Watch” category.

Recognition in Best Lawyers is based entirely on peer review. The organization’s methodology is “designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.”

A person receives recognition from Best Lawyers for his or her success in the legal industry within specific practice areas. Graves was honored for Commercial Litigation, Litigation – Regulatory Enforcement (SEC, Telecom, Energy), Criminal Defense: White-Collar, and Administrative/Regulatory Law; Garrett for Commercial Litigation, Criminal Defense: White-Collar, and Qui Tam Law; Greim for First Amendment Law, Commercial Litigation, Criminal Defense: White-Collar, and Government Relations Practice; and Bodamer for Commercial Litigation and Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions – Defendants.

Luetkemeyer appeared in “Ones to Watch” in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Administrative/Regulatory Law, and Government Relations Practice; Martin for Commercial Litigation and Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions – Defendants; and Mueller for Administrative/Regulatory Law and Government Relations Practice.

Graves represents clients nationwide before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. His areas of experience include white-collar criminal defense, political speech and election law, internal investigations, regulatory compliance, and complex commercial litigation.

Garrett focuses his practice on federal civil and criminal investigations, complex commercial litigation and False Claims Act (qui tam) prosecution and defense. He has achieved numerous successful outcomes across a full range of matters in courts throughout the country.

Greim’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, internal investigations, whistleblower claims, and free speech and election law. His free speech and election law experience has included numerous constitutional challenges to election and campaign finance laws.

Bodamer has nearly four decades of legal experience prosecuting and defending claims in a wide variety of complex litigation matters and he has first-chaired more than 30 trials to verdict in federal and state courts across the country.

Martin represents plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state courts throughout the country. He is well versed on all aspects of civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on class actions and other complex matters.

Luetkemeyer focuses her practice on a wide range of litigation, including high-stakes criminal and civil investigations and complex commercial matters. She has represented clients in investigations involving state and federal campaign finance law, the False Claims Act, anti-bribery laws, criminal tax matters, fraud, and more.

Mueller regularly represents individuals and businesses across a variety of industries in complex litigation matters, supporting the firm’s commercial litigation, white-collar criminal defense, and free speech, campaign finance and election law practice groups.
