Chandler Carr is an accomplished commercial litigator who focuses his practice on complex business disputes, insurance coverage matters on behalf of policyholders, and class action defense.

Chandler has significant experience in insurance coverage litigation, advising policyholders and prosecuting contractual and bad faith claims against insurers and has prosecuted and defended numerous complex cases involving issues such as unfair trade practices, consumer deception, false advertising, and fraud. He is also an experienced appellate practitioner with substantial experience briefing appeals in state and federal courts.

In addition to enjoying briefing and arguing complex issues, Chandler enjoys advocating for his clients in arbitration proceedings and at trial. Outside of litigation, he acts as an advisor to clients on legal and regulatory issues and risk mitigation, particularly related to unfair competition laws, antitrust concerns, and insurance coverage matters.

Chandler received his J.D. from Northwestern University. His bachelor’s degree is in philosophy from Calvin University. He previously contemplated a career in theology, having pursued a Master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School, and he still enjoys reading and discussing such matters.

Representative Matters

  • Defeated class certification on behalf of retailer and distributor clients in federal court in action alleging civil RICO and unfair business practices claims.
  • Secured jury verdict on behalf of corporate plaintiff in fiduciary duty litigation brought against former director.
  • Defeated an insurance company’s motion for summary judgment seeking to affirm denial of D&O coverage on behalf of bank holding company.
  • Won dismissal of fraud and promissory estoppel claims in federal court.
  • Defeated civil RICO claims in separate actions at the dismissal stage and at the summary judgment stage.
